SIMCom SIM900

The SIMCom SIM900 is an ultra-compact quad-band GSM/GPRS wireless module designed for M2M applications. Operating on 850/900/1800/1900MHz frequencies, this SMT-type module integrates a powerful ARM926EJ-S single-chip processor in a miniature 24mm x 24mm x 3mm form factor weighing just 3.4g.

The module supports GSM/GPRS voice, SMS, data, and fax communications with GPRS multi-slot class 10/8 capability, delivering download speeds up to 85.6 kbps. It features Class 4 power output (2W) at 850/900MHz and Class 1 (1W) at 1800/1900MHz bands, with SAIC (Single Antenna Interference Cancellation) support for improved signal quality.

Key features include embedded TCP/UDP protocol stack, FTP/HTTP support, multiple voice codec options (HR, FR, EFR, AMR), and comprehensive interface options including SIM card support (3V/1.8V), analog audio, serial interface, SPI, I2C, GPIO, PWM, and ADC. The module operates on 3.2-4.8V supply voltage with ultra-low power consumption of 1.0mA in sleep mode.

Controlled via AT commands (GSM 07.07, 07.05 and SIMCOM enhanced commands), the SIM900 supports 0710 MUX protocol, PPP-stack, USSD, and SMS in both text and PDU modes. It operates reliably across -40°C to +85°C temperature range and holds CE, FCC, ROHS, PTCRB, and GCF certifications, making it ideal for slim and compact M2M designs requiring reliable GSM/GPRS connectivity.
