Telit GM862-GPS

The Telit GM862-GPS is a cutting-edge module that combines a quad-band GSM/GPRS modem with a 20-channel high sensitivity SiRFstarIII single-chip GPS receiver. Operating on EGSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz frequencies, it delivers Class 4 (2W) output power at 850/900 MHz and Class 1 (1W) at 1800/1900 MHz. The module features a supply voltage range of 3.22-4.5V DC with low power consumption, including less than 26 uA in power-off mode and 2.6 mA in idle state.

The integrated GPS receiver provides exceptional performance with sensitivity up to -159 dBm for indoor reception, position accuracy of less than 2.5m, and fast time-to-first-fix with hot start in under 3 seconds. It supports SBAS (WAAS and EGNOS) and includes over 200,000 effective correlators while consuming just 75 mA during operation.

Measuring 43.9 x 43.9 x 6.9 mm and weighing 20 grams, the module operates in extended temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. It includes an embedded Python script interpreter with 1.9 MB of non-volatile memory for user scripts, integrated TCP/IP protocol stack supporting TCP, IP, UDP, SMTP and FTP protocols, and features jamming detection capabilities. The module offers comprehensive connectivity through a 50-pin Molex connector with up to 13 I/O ports, UART serial interface supporting baud rates from 300 to 115,200 bps, and includes an onboard SIM card holder with real-time detection.

The GM862-GPS supports multiple voice codecs (HR, FR, EFR, AMR), GPRS class 10 data transmission, SMS functionality, and various GSM supplementary services. With its ruggedized design, industrial-grade connectors, RoHS compliance, and support for Over-the-Air firmware updates via Telit's Premium FOTA Management, this module provides an ideal platform for telematics, fleet management, tracking, security, and vehicle navigation applications.
