SIMCom SIM548C

The SIM548C is a compact Quad-Band GSM/GPRS module with integrated GPS technology, combining cellular connectivity and satellite navigation in a single plug-in solution. Operating on 850/900/1800/1900MHz frequencies, this module measures 55×33×8.2mm and weighs approximately 16.5g.

The module supports GPRS multi-slot class 10 with data transfer speeds up to 85.6 kbps (downlink) and is compliant with GSM phase 2/2+, delivering Class 4 power output (2W) at 850/900MHz and Class 1 (1W) at 1800/1900MHz. It operates within a temperature range of -30°C to +80°C and requires a supply voltage of 3.4 to 4.5V.

For GPS functionality, the SIM548C features a 20-channel receiver operating at L1 1575.42MHz with C/A code, providing 10m CEP position accuracy without SA. The GPS system supports hot start in less than 1 second, warm start in less than 38 seconds, and cold start in less than 42 seconds under average open sky conditions. It includes AGPS support and operates at 3.3V DC with approximately 200mW power consumption.

The module offers comprehensive connectivity through a 60-pin DIP connector, featuring dual analog audio interfaces, dual serial interfaces for GPS, an integrated TCP/IP stack, and separate antenna connectors for GSM/GPRS and GPS. Additional capabilities include SMS support (point-to-point and cell broadcast), tricodec audio with echo cancellation, CSD up to 14.4 kbps, Group 3 class 1 fax support, and control via AT commands. The module also includes an embedded SIM card holder, LCD interface, RTC backup, and charge interface.
