Quectel EM160R-GL

The Quectel EM160R-GL is an LTE-Advanced Category 16 M.2 module designed for global market coverage, supporting nearly all mainstream carriers worldwide. Based on 3GPP Release 14 technology, it delivers theoretical downlink peak data rates of 1.0 Gbps and uplink rates of 150 Mbps through advanced features including 5-carrier aggregation, 256QAM modulation, and 4x4 MIMO technology.

The module measures 42.0 x 30.0 x 2.3 mm in the standard M.2 form factor with Key-B interface, weighing 6.8g. It operates across a wide temperature range from -25°C to +75°C, with extended temperature support from -40°C to +85°C. The EM160R-GL provides comprehensive frequency band coverage including LTE-FDD bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/14/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/29/30/32/66 and LTE-TDD bands 38/39/40/41/42/43/46/48 (CBRS), along with UMTS/WCDMA support on bands 1/2/3/4/5/6/8/19.

Key connectivity features include USB 2.0/3.0 high-speed interface, PCIe Gen2 interface for PC and laptop applications, and dual SIM support with DSSA (Dual SIM, Single Active) functionality. The module offers optional built-in eSIM capability and integrated multi-constellation GNSS supporting GPS, GLONASS, BDS, and Galileo for precise positioning applications. It provides comprehensive driver support for Windows, Linux, and Android operating systems, along with standard protocols including QMI, MBIM, and HTTPS.

The EM160R-GL maintains compatibility with Quectel's previous generation modules including EM06, EM12-G, EM120R-GL, and EM121R-GL, facilitating seamless migration paths. With its robust feature set and extensive certifications including GCF, CE, PTCRB, FCC, and carrier approvals from major operators worldwide, the module is well-suited for industrial routers, home gateways, set-top boxes, industrial and consumer laptops, rugged tablets, and digital signage applications.
