Telit SE878K3-A

The SE878K3-A is a multi-constellation GNSS antenna module that integrates a high-sensitivity 17x17mm patch antenna, SAW filter, additional LNA, flash memory, GNSS core, RTC, and TCXO in a compact 18x18x6.1mm package. This SMT-mountable module supports GPS, GLONASS, QZSS, Beidou, and is Galileo-ready, capable of tracking multiple constellations simultaneously across L1/E1/B1 frequency bands.

The module features a unique "cavity-like" PCB package design that optimizes the RF path while supporting standard SMT mounting without constraining the host PCB, minimizing antenna detuning. It provides positioning data through standard UART, I2C, and SPI interfaces, with an additional PS interface for precise timing applications.

Key performance specifications include acquisition sensitivity of -148 dBm, navigation sensitivity of -163 dBm, and tracking sensitivity of -165 dBm. The module achieves cold start times under 35 seconds and host start times of 1 second, with autonomous positional accuracy of 2.5m CEP50. Power consumption ranges from 34mW in low-power tracking mode to 93mW during full power acquisition when tracking GPS and GLONASS simultaneously.

The SE878K3-A supports both autonomous and server-based A-GPS with onboard software capable of locally predicting ephemeris data up to three days in advance. It includes SBAS compliance with EGNOS, WAAS, GAGAN, and MSAS support for enhanced positioning accuracy. An embedded RF switch enables external antenna connectivity, making it ideal for applications where the internal antenna serves as backup.

Operating across a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C with a power supply range of 3.0V to 4.3V, the module weighs less than 2 grams and is RoHS and RED compliant. It is specifically designed for telematics, tracking and trace, and alarm applications where reliable multi-constellation positioning is critical.
