Quectel EC21-J mPCIe

The Quectel EC21-J mPCIe is an LTE Category 1 module designed specifically for IoT and M2M applications in Japan, adopting the standard PCI Express Mini Card form factor. This cost-optimized module delivers M2M-focused connectivity with speeds of 10Mbps downlink and 5Mbps uplink on LTE networks, while maintaining backward compatibility with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks for seamless network migration.

The EC21-J mPCIe supports LTE FDD bands B1/B3/B8/B18/B19/B26, tailored for Japanese network coverage. It integrates Qualcomm IZat location technology Gen8C Lite with multi-constellation GNSS support (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS) for accurate positioning capabilities. The module features a USB 2.0 high-speed interface up to 480Mbps, UART connectivity, and supports various voice codec modes including HR/FR/EFR/AMR/AMR-WB with echo cancellation and noise reduction.

Operating across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +80°C with a typical supply voltage of 3.3V, the module consumes only 3.5mA in sleep mode and 34mA at idle. Its compact dimensions of 51.0mm × 30.0mm × 4.9mm and approximate weight of 9.8g make it ideal for space-constrained applications. The EC21-J mPCIe includes comprehensive protocol support (TCP/UDP/PPP/FTP/HTTP/NTP/PING/QMI) and provides USB drivers for Windows XP through Windows 10, Linux, and Android platforms. With JATE/TELEC certifications and optional DOCOMO/Softbank approvals, it meets Japanese regulatory requirements for deployment in smart metering, fleet management, tracking devices, wearables, smart home gateways, and digital signage applications.
