Quectel BG96

The Quectel BG96 is a multi-mode IoT module supporting LTE Cat M1, Cat NB1, and EGPRS connectivity, offering maximum data rates of 375Kbps downlink and uplink for Cat M1. Built on the Qualcomm MDM9206 platform, this module features ultra-low power consumption with power saving mode drawing only 10uA and idle states as low as 15mA with extended DRX cycles.

The module comes in a compact SMT form factor measuring 26.5mm × 22.5mm × 2.3mm and weighing approximately 3.1g, utilizing an advanced LGA package that enables fully automated manufacturing for high-volume applications. It provides pin-to-pin compatibility with Quectel's EG91/EG95, BC95, UG95/UG96, and M95 modules, facilitating easy migration across different cellular technologies.

The BG96 offers comprehensive connectivity options including USB 2.0 High Speed up to 480Mbps, three UART interfaces, PCM, dual ADC channels, and configurable GPIO pins. It supports VoLTE voice calling for Cat M1 with Realtek ALC5616/NAU8814 codec compatibility, along with point-to-point SMS in both text and PDU modes. Optional GNSS functionality includes GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou/Compass, Galileo, and QZSS support.

Operating across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C with a supply voltage of 3.3V to 4.3V, the module delivers 23dBm maximum output power and excellent receiver sensitivity of -107dBm for Cat M1 and -113dBm for Cat NB1. It includes an ARM A7 processor with 3MB Flash and 3MB RAM available for user applications, supports DFOTA for over-the-air firmware updates, and comes with extensive driver support for Windows, Linux, and Android operating systems. The module holds multiple global certifications including CE/GCF, FCC/PTCRB, RCM, and carrier approvals from major operators worldwide.
