Cinterion EGS3

The Cinterion EGS3 is a compact LGA solderable wireless module designed for M2M connectivity, featuring GPRS Class 12 functionality with symmetric data speeds up to 86 kbps in both uplink and downlink. This quad-band GSM/GPRS module integrates a TCP/IP stack accessible via AT commands, supporting internet services including TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, and POP3. The module offers industrial interfaces including SPI, I²C bus, and USB port for versatile connectivity options.

Built on advanced processor technology with Cinterion's field-proven M2M software stack, the EGS3 operates within a supply voltage range of 3.2 to 4.5V and maintains functionality across an operational temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The module measures 33.9 x 29.6 x 3.2 mm and weighs 5.5g, making it suitable for space-constrained applications.

Key features include RLS (Remote Link Stability) Monitoring for network performance information, Advanced Temperature Management to protect the module in critical thermal environments, and a flexible Multi-SIM interface supporting both 3V and 1.8V SIM cards. The module provides two serial interfaces with ITU-T V.24 protocol, audio interfaces (2 analog, 1 digital), and supports voice services with triple-rate codec for HR, FR, and EFR, plus AMR codec with hands-free operation, echo cancellation, and noise reduction.

The EGS3 is delivered in tape and reel packaging with 300 modules per reel for efficient automated manufacturing. It carries CE, R&TTE, GCF, UL, FCC, IC, and PTCRB approvals, along with various local approvals and network operator certifications, ensuring global deployment readiness for M2M applications.
