Cinterion PH8-P

The Cinterion PH8-P is an HSPA+ cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) module that delivers true global coverage through five-band UMTS/HSPA+ (800/850/900/1900/2100 MHz) and quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) connectivity. This wireless module supports high-speed data transmission with HSDPA Cat.10/HSUPA Cat.6, achieving download speeds up to 14.4 Mbps and upload speeds up to 5.76 Mbps. It also provides EDGE Class 12 and GPRS Class 12 capabilities for backward compatibility.

The module features standalone GPS and GLONASS functionality with A-GPS support, offering tracking sensitivity better than -158 dBm. It includes full voice support optimized for high-quality handset, headset, and hands-free telephony with dual microphone support for suppression of non-stationary background noise. The PH8-P incorporates three antenna connectors - two for WAN diversity support and one for active GPS antenna - enabling improved data speeds even under fluctuating network conditions.

Measuring 50 × 33.9 × 3.1 mm with a single-sided design for superior heat dissipation, the module operates across an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It features an 80-pin board-to-board connector for easy migration from 2G to 3G, USB 2.0 high-speed interface up to 480 Mbps, high-speed serial interface up to 920 kbps, and both analog and digital audio interfaces (PCM or I2S). The module includes TCP/IP stack access via AT commands and supports multiple driver options including RIL/NDIS/USB/MUX drivers for Windows, Windows Embedded Handheld, Windows Embedded Compact, and Android OS, as well as CDC-ACM compliant mode for Linux.

Operating on a supply voltage range of 3.3-4.2V with optimized power consumption, the PH8-P holds R&TTE, FCC, GCF, PTCRB, UL, IC, and CE certifications, making it suitable for demanding M2M applications including ruggedized mobile computing, security solutions, medical equipment, payment systems, and gateway routers.
